Sentara staff take pride in the services they provide. Most people do not go into a hospital expecting to have a great time, which is why is it understandable that most people post poor reviews. However, Sentara has the ability to turn a very scary and concerning situation for a patient into a positive experience overall based on the customer service provided. I have been to two of their hospitals including the one in Woodbridge and have always had a positive experience.
Ridiculous wait times for emergency. Staff has the urgency of a snail. Rude and uncaring. Don't go to this death trap. You are better off driving hours to another facility.
My husband woke up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain. Rushed him to the hospital. The pain was crippling and guy on duty just took his sweet time, getting a wheelchair. Speaking rudely and dismissively to us because we didn't know where we were going. All while never putting his phone down. I hate that hospitals take your credit card before they ask what is wrong. We've been here since 4 30am and it's now 6am. Nothing. No one has seen him or done anything helpful.
Once in the room I was seen within five to ten minutes. I had several X-rays taken and did not have to wait long to get the results. My entire ER visit from the point of walking in to walking out was a little less than four hours. Perhaps if I went on a Friday or Saturday night I would've had a much longer wait, but I wouldn't complain because that's to be expected.
I read a lot of the reviews and the biggest complaints are in regards to the wait and the customer service. When I went to the ER a month ago it was around midnight on a Tuesday. I was checked in immediately upon walking in, I was treated with respect, and I did not have to wait long to be taken to a room. My wait was about 15-20 minutes to get a room.
I have been here since 6pm (it is now almost 7:30pm) in excruciating back pain...like at a 15 on the 1-10 scale, after having spinal injection surgery two weeks ago. While sitting here, I have lost the feeling in one leg completely and beginning to in the arm on the same side. I told the front desk, but they are very nonchalant about my possibly becoming paralyzed in their waiting room. They had better hope this is reversible or they will be get papers from my attorney.
