Awesome shop with super friendly staff! They even helped me with my stroller tire and watched my car so I wouldn't have to take the baby into the store. Sure you might find some things a little cheaper at a bigger chain store, but support local small businesses and get value with personalized attention. The difference in prices I have found almost negligible and I am a super couponer but I'd rather spend a dollar or less more and get the best service in town.
Called Olde Towne Bicycles from Village and confirmed they had what we needed. He headed over, but they weren't sure if they were going to be able to get to my brother's bike. So they let him use their tools and set up in the back to work on his own bike- I have never known a shop to just let a customer use their space like that!
I can only award my stars from the experience of going in, talking to the sales person but not buying anything. The guy was very helpful and friendly and knowledgeable. For us, the bikes were out of the spending range we had set for our young son. They start around $500. For adults, this would be the place to go as you can eventually trade in the bike you bought from them for a newer version and they also tweak and fix your bike for the first year. Nice. Just too expensive for us.
TL;DR: The guys at this shop are AWESOME- go see them!!
I was a bit skeptical about purchasing my bike here after reading a few reviews. But boy were they wrong. From the time I walked in the door, Neil introduced himself and asked what I was looking for. I also saw other customers being assisted as they came in the store.
Horrible customer service and very rude. I have purchase several items from them but the service has drop tremendously.
My brother and I drove out from Winchester, VA and were biking at Fountainhead when his 27.5+ tubeless tire popped a flat. Determined to get back to it, we decided to find the nearest shop for a quick replacement tube. The nearest shop was Village Skies and Bikes and the service there was just awful. Waited 20 minutes, the people were rude, and they knew nothing about plus sized tires and weren't willing to listen to either of us who both knew how to fix the problem. No wonder they're going out of business.
While we were in the back, we heard the sound of torrential downpour on the roof and we were sad all over again. But the super awesome guys at the shop told us about (and gave us directions to) multiple other trails in the area that may have been unaffected. While we didn't go back to Fountainhead due to the rain, we went to Meadowood where everything was still dry and had a BLAST out there! Really turned the day around.
Neil made my bike buying experience easy, he took his time and answered all my questions. With his input I decided to go with a higher end bike. And I'm glad I did. I look forward to doing business with you all in the future.
Thank you Neil and Old Towne Bicycles :)
If I was closer, I would definitely make Olde Towne my go-to bike shop. The customer service was absolutely outstanding!
